Controlling app behavior
Set rules for how your app behaves — user roles, visibility conditions, navigation logic, form validation, and automations.
App logic in bldrAgent
Beyond screens and styling, every real app needs logic — rules that control what users can see, what they can do, and how the app reacts to their actions.
In bldrAgent, you can describe all of this logic in plain English and the AI implements it for you.
User roles and permissions
Define different types of users and control what each can access:
"Create two roles: 'Admin' and 'Member'. Admins can see the /admin pages. Members only see /dashboard. Non-logged-in users are redirected to /login."
Common role patterns:
- Public / Guest — anyone, no login required
- User / Member — authenticated users
- Admin — privileged users with management access
- Super Admin — full platform control (your own account)
Visibility conditions
Show or hide any element based on conditions:
"Show the 'Cancel subscription' button only if the user has an active paid plan" "Hide the 'Admin' link in the nav if the user's role is not Admin" "Show the 'Verify email' banner only if the user's email is unverified"
Navigation logic
Control where users go after actions:
"After a successful login, redirect users to /dashboard" "After completing onboarding, redirect to the first project the user creates" "If a user tries to access /settings without being logged in, redirect to /login with a return URL"
Form validation
Add validation rules to any form:
"The email field must be a valid email format. The password must be at least 8 characters with one uppercase letter. Show inline error messages below each field."
bldrAgent supports:
- Required fields
- Format validation (email, URL, phone number)
- Min/max length
- Numeric range
- Custom regex patterns
- Cross-field validation ("password and confirm password must match")
Automations
Trigger actions in response to events:
"When a new user signs up, send them a welcome email and add them to the 'New Users' segment in our email list" "When an order is marked as 'Shipped', send the customer an email with a tracking link" "Every night at midnight, archive bookings that are more than 30 days old"
Supported automation triggers:
- Record created / updated / deleted (database events)
- Form submitted
- User signed up / logged in
- Scheduled (time-based)
- Webhook received
Calculated fields
Add computed values to your data:
"Add a 'Total Price' field to the order table that automatically calculates quantity × unit price" "Show the number of days since a user signed up on their profile page"
Conditional navigation in menus
"In the main nav, show 'Dashboard' and 'Settings' for logged-in users, and 'Log in' and 'Sign up' for logged-out users"
